This is a basic html5 code template for a blank html web page. It was tested for validity on W3c Markup Validation Service using experimental feature: HTML5 Conformance Checker.

This JavaScript include is called HTML5 Shiv. It is a workaround to enable css styling of HTML5 elements in older versions of Internet Explorer (prior to version 9), which do not allow unknown elements (new html5 tags) to be styled. If you don't alter new html5 tags ("article", "footer",...) with CSS styles, you can opt-out this javascript include.

The 'header' tag specifies a header for a document or section. The 'header' element should be used as a container for introductory content or set of navigational links. You can have several 'header' elements in one document.

Your main content goes here. The 'article' tag can have a 'header' and a 'footer' tags inside it.

The new html5 tag where you should put your copyright/author information about its containing element ("body", "article").
